Cohorts and Scholars
Students who apply and are accepted to participate in the College Assistance Migrant Program are referred to as CAMP Scholars. The term Scholar signifies their seriousness of purpose in advancing in their discipline and attaining a college degree.
CAMP Scholars are provided with numerous opportunities for academic and personal growth during their first year at Washington State University. Services range from personal counseling to financial planning and academic success. At the end of their participation, CAMP scholars become a central part of university life by getting involved in research, student involvement and leadership. CAMP Scholars are highly coveted by other programs due to their resiliency and hard work ethic.
Each year, the program accepts between fifty to fifty five new students to participate, and this group becomes the Cohort for that particular year. Cohorts are like familia, a place away from home where students feel included, supported and valued for who they are.
